9/24, 25_Shikida-Takada Laboratory Joint Training Camp
On September 24-25, we held a two-day camp at the National Muroto Youth Nature House. Unlike last year, this year's camp was held jointly with the Takata Laboratory, allowing the students to deepen their friendship with their colleagues inside and outside the laboratory.
On the first day, seminar presentations and a social gathering were the main events, where third-year bachelor students shared their thoughts on their future career plans and paths, mainly based on their internship experiences. Senior bachelor students and master's degree students reported on the progress of their research, and a fruitful Q&A session was held. In addition, there were also presentations by students outside the two labs and early-assignment students who participated voluntarily again this year, and we were able to hear about their experiences during the summer vacation and other topics from different perspectives.
On the second day, everyone woke up at 6:30 a.m., cleaned the rooms they had used, and began the day with radio calisthenics. Some members still looked a little sleepy, but as the exercises progressed, they gradually became more energetic, and after the exercises they looked refreshed. After the exercises, the main event of the day was the outdoor cooking. The menu was the standard BBQ, with everyone sharing in the preparation and grilling the food. The amount of food was so large that some people looked as if they were in pain, but I am glad that everyone managed to finish the meal.
This was our first attempt at a joint camp, but thanks to the active efforts of each member, it was a great success. I feel that we were able to form deep connections that we would not have been able to gain from just our usual involvement in the laboratory. I would like to make the next camp even more wonderful by making the most of this experience.
